Nice swarm capture this morning.
Great time tonight at the Parkland Community Library talkin bees, native plants and pollinators! Contact me to arrange for a presentation to your group!
Two requests for help yesterday, but challenging removals. Both are well-established colonies, one having been an attempted trap-out by another beek (with no success) and a second one established in a sycamore tree, which has been active for years.
Honey bee swarm captured from southside Bethlehem and hived in a new home in the bee yard.
A somewhat rare occurrence about 12 miles north of me. Probably a swarm which landed on this branch and couldn’t reach a consensus as to picking a new sheltered home, so they started constructing comb. Not a good prospect for long term survival, as they are exposed to the elements and predators.
Nice size swarm in Bethlehem Township yesterday. Established colony at a renovation property near Coca-Cola Park At the renovation of the former Gregory’s restaurant today. Looks like extensive colony found between floors. Extraction plan to be determined by beekeepers Brett Palanski and Taylor Alexander. Looks to be a big job!

Fun times with the group! Lots of good questions and discussion. Gave away a lot of “Bee Bucks” earned during the session.
Great time yesterday in Jim Thorpe with an enthusiastic group of students and staff. Met many old friends. Contact me when your group is interested in learning about honey bees!
